Like a traditional bank, MTN Ghana has set daily and monthly limits for all mobile money (MoMo) transactions. These limits increase the longer you stay on the service. If you frequently exceed your daily transaction limit, you can increase it by following the steps outlined in the official guide.

Types of MTN Mobile Money Accounts:

There are three types of MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) account holders:

1. Minimum Account
2. Medium Account
3. Enhanced Account

MTN MoMo Daily Limits:

The daily transaction limits for the different types of accounts are:

• Minimum Account: GHS 3,000
• Medium Account: GHS 15,000
• Enhanced Account: GHS 25,000

MTN MoMo Monthly Limits:

For monthly transactions, the limits are:

• Minimum Account: Maximum of GHS 10,000
• Medium Account: Unlimited transactions
• Enhanced Account: Unlimited transactions

MTN MoMo Limits for Agents:

There are four types of MTN MoMo agents: Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4.

• Daily Transaction Limits:
  • Tier 1: GHS 200,000
  • Tier 2: GHS 1,000,000
  • Tier 3 and Tier 4: Unlimited daily transactions
• Monthly Transaction Limits:
  • Tier 1: GHS 700,000
  • Tier 2: GHS 10,000,000
  • Tier 3: GHS 30,000,000
  • Tier 4: Unlimited monthly transactions

Documents Needed to Upgrade Your MoMo Wallet

Before contacting MTN to increase your daily or monthly transaction limit, ensure you have the following documents ready:

1. Utility bill, bank statement, or notarized tenancy agreement form
2. Ghana Card (hard copy)
3. MTN SIM (inserted in a working mobile phone)

How to Check Your Current MoMo Wallet Limit

Before starting the process to increase your wallet limit, check and confirm your current threshold:

1. Dial *170#
2. Select option 6 (My Wallet)
3. Choose option 9 (Check Wallet Limits)

Your current daily and monthly MoMo wallet limits will be displayed.

Steps to Increase Your MTN Mobile Money Limit

There are a few ways to increase your daily or monthly transaction limits on MTN. Note that you must have been a customer for a certain period to be eligible for a transaction limit upgrade.

To Increase Your MoMo Wallet Limit Online:

1. Visit www.mtncustomeronlinerequest.mtn.com.gh.
2. Enter your telephone number in the provided field.
3. Click on the "MoMo Enhancement Form." You will be directed to another form.
4. Fill in your name, telephone number, date of birth, Ghana Card number, expiry date, email address, and alternative number.
5. Upload the required documents: front and back of your Ghana Card, a utility bill, and a photo of you holding your ID close to your chest.
6. Click on "Submit Request."
7. You will receive a ticket number via SMS.

MTN Ghana will contact you within 24 hours to begin the wallet limit increase process. If your request is not completed within 24 hours, follow up with your ticket number by calling MTN customer care at 100.

Alternatively, you can visit the nearest MTN office with all the required documents, and they will initiate the process onsite.
