  • Fake SMS

Steps to Report MoMo Fraud to MTN Ghana

There are several ways to report fraud to MTN Ghana:

  • Contacting customer care
  • Using USSD
  • Sending an email
  • Via the MTN MoMo App

1. Reporting Fraud via USSD (Subscribers)

Using the MTN USSD code is one of the easiest methods to report fraud. Follow these steps:

  1. Dial *170#.
  2. Select option 6 to access your wallet.
  3. Choose option 4 to report fraud.
  4. Select the type of fraud you want to report:
    • For wrong transfers, call 100 or WhatsApp 0554300000.
    • For fraudulent transfers:
      1. Enter the fraudster’s number.
      2. Answer the question: "Did you transfer the money?"
      3. Enter the amount.
      4. Enter the incident date.
      5. Follow the prompts to complete the process.
    • For business scams, new reversal processes, fake SMS, fake blocking, and fake promotions, follow the same steps as for fraudulent transfers.

Alternatively, you can:

  1. Dial *171#.
  2. Select option 7 to access your wallet.
  3. Choose option 3 to report fraud.
  4. Select the type of fraud.
  5. Follow the subsequent steps to report fraud to MTN.

2. Report Fraud via the MTN MoMo App

(Note: This is different from the MyMTN app.)

  1. Download the MoMo app from your app store.
  2. Launch the app and enter your telephone number.
  3. Enter the OTP code sent to you.
  4. Once logged into your dashboard, tap on "Account" at the top left corner.
  5. Tap on "Report Fraud."
  6. Fill in the form: enter your telephone number, select the type of fraud, and answer all subsequent questions.
  7. Follow the prompts to complete the report.

4. Reporting Fraud to MTN via Email
